Over the 145 years since our founding as Osaka Iron Works, back in 1881, the businesses and technologies of the Kanadevia Group have always evolved to suit each era. The “Spirit of Challenge” passed down to us by our founder, Edward Hazlett Hunter, has remained the starting point for our business activities to this very day.

Kanadevia has expanded our business fields from shipbuilding to steel structures, plants, and industrial machinery, and today, we are working on solutions to social issues based around decarbonization, resource circulation, and the development of safe and prosperous communities. Using the power of technology to bring about harmony between humanity, society, and nature remains our unchanging mission.

In October 2024, our name and Group brand were changed to Kanadevia.
Our new name and brand embody our desire that, by respecting diversity and through unceasing technological innovation, we shall open up new roads (via) that bring harmony between humanity and nature in the same way that an orchestra plays (kanaderu) in harmony. This change was a giant step towards demonstrating our commitment to growth and transformation as we head into the years ahead.

Kanadevia will continue to work towards strengthening our business competitiveness and management foundations with a view to sustainable growth over the long term. As part of this, we have commenced studies into the possibility of a business merger with Nippon Steel Engineering Co., Ltd. This forward-looking move will make our corporate group even stronger, more able to create value, in this rapidly-changing global environment.

We shall seek to become a company fitting for the future, unafraid of change, while still cherishing the technologies and trust that we have already fostered.
So that we may continue to be a company needed by society, we are committing ourselves to achieving sustainable growth and enhancing our corporate value.
