Hitachi Zosen Inova supplies main equipment for construction of an EfW plant in North London, UK
Feb 17, 2022
Hitachi Zosen Inova AG ("HZI", Switzerland), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi Zosen Corporation, that designs, constructs, and maintains energy-from-waste ("EfW") plants, will supply the main equipment such as grate and boiler for the construction of the EfW plant in North London, UK, which has been awarded to Acciona Industrial UK Limited, a UK construction company, by the North London Waste Authority.
This project is the reconstruction of a plant that has been in operation since 1971 in Edmonton, North London, UK, and HZI will supply the main equipment, including grate and boiler.
Once the plant goes into operation, up to 700,000 tons of general waste will be processed annually, and generate electricity, heat and hot water for up to 127,000 households. It is also expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 215,000 tons compared to landfill.
Our Group has delivered approximately 1,000 waste treatment plants in Japan and overseas, and this is the 17th order received in UK and Ireland, which Our Group position as important markets. Through sanitary waste treatment and clean energy technology, Our Group will contribute to the achievement of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) adopted at the United Nations Summit and realizing a sound material-cycle society.
