Sustainable Procurement
The Group's Sustainable Vision is to “realize zero environmental impact” and “maximize people’s well-being". Sustainable development will not be achieved simply by carrying out activities to solve environmental challenges. People's basic needs must be recognized: health, influence, ability, equity, and meaning and significance. Therefore, the Pillars of Success are “sustainable procurement” and “maximize people’s well-being". We will work throughout our supply chain to respect human rights and strive to realize people's well-being who work for our Group.
Basic Policy
One of the seven Pillars of Success is “sustainable procurement”. Through our procurement activities, the Group will contribute to a sustainable society together with our suppliers by addressing and improving issues such as environmental conservation, respect for human rights, and assurance of occupational safety throughout the supply chain.
- [Fair and equitable transactions]
- We provide fair entry opportunities regardless of a company's size, nationality, or transaction track record. For each individual transaction, we will use not only conventional criteria such as quality, technology, price, delivery time, and stability of management base, but also economic rationality, which is based on comprehensive consideration of various conditions related to sustainability, as the criteria for determining a fair transaction. Through these transactions, we will foster a relationship of trust with our suppliers.
- [Human rights]
- We also expect our suppliers to respect all principles of human rights, including the elimination of forced labor, child labor, and harassment.
- [Labor safety]
- We also expect our suppliers to be aware of domestic and international laws and regulations, social and industry norms, and to make efforts to maintain and improve the working environment and health and safety.
- [Corporate ethics]
- We will ensure compliance with national and regional procurement laws and regulations, work to prevent all forms of corruption, including bribery, and conduct fair transactions that conform to socially accepted norms.
- [Environmental conservation promotion]
- In cooperation with our suppliers, we will fulfill our responsibility for environmental conservation as a company by giving due consideration to the global environment through our procurement activities, including management and reduction of greenhouse gases and waste, efficient use of resources, and control of hazardous chemical substances contained in our manufacturing processes and products.
- [Quality and safety]
- Ensure sufficient quality and safety - Quality and safety (including traceability) throughout the design, material procurement, manufacturing, and construction processes, as well as the establishment of a system to resolve problems when they occur - We require our suppliers to responsibility as a designer and manufacturer.
- [Prevent leakage of personal and confidential information]
- We shall strictly manage personal information and confidential business and technical information obtained through business transactions, and shall not disclose any such information to outside parties without the supplier's consent, and we require our suppliers to do the same.

Building a sustainable supply chain
Sustainable procurement is a company-wide theme that is tackled not by the procurement department alone, but by all related departments, including the sales and design departments. At the same time, the understanding and cooperation of suppliers in the supply chain is essential. Since the fiscal year ended March 31, 2020, we have been surveying our suppliers' sustainability using the SAQ (Self Assessment Questionnaire), and have been working with them to build a sustainable supply chain through the cycle of “survey, evaluation and feedback, request for improvement, reassessment". Through this cycle, we are working with suppliers to build a sustainable supply chain.
